Scope
A place for my resume that's not LinkedIn
I want it to be a place recruiters and hiring managers can
a) see my resume b) be impressed c) download my resume
and also the whole login is simply because I want to be able to login from anywhere in the world and modify my resume. It's also a healthy goal for me to implement login, auth, CSR, CMS, and everything in between.
Spin the wheel and see where it lands
Learning how to install PgBouncer? Trying CSR with TS and React for the first time? Do we go with a traditional ORM, or do we go as raw SQL as we can? What do we maintain, what do we outsource? That is what this is for. I have a GitHub project, currently it's sitting in DigitalOcean, and with it I can touch Linux-related stuff (from prod's CLI, OFC), cloud stuff (I have been meaning to migrate to an AWS EC2 instance for a while), or... you know... regular programming stuff.
It's my Phineas and Ferb's backyard, I can do whatever the hell I want and that is the appeal. It's where I can be allowed to see a shiny object or a butterly and follow it. A place to be allowed to make mistakes with zero expectations and no stakes. Nobody cares if my website is down. I mean, I do, but nobody else does, and that's a plus (+), not a minus (-). A place to set expectations, to learn the weight that is each and every decision.
Potentially, a product
As I get the ropes of what goes where, how to twist, bend, deploy it and so fort, I can start involving other people. Perhaps a local business that currently only is in a Facebook group, perhaps a friend needs a website. It could even become a commercial product.
I wouldn't, though, before I feel confident in:
Email service(like Amazon's SES)Payments(like Peter Thiel's Stripe payments API)Migrations(those are hard, okay? Mentally and emotionally)
Then, I would feel comfortable offering some of my projects as commercial products/services, but even then honestly the idea doesn't even come to me. Right now it's just my virtual backyard. Besides, I already promised four friends I'm making them a website when I can't even control mine well enough.
A place to leave stuff
Recipes I cook, quotes I seen which are bangers, blog posts of things I thought were thoughtful, songs I would personally recommend, gathering event ideas/blueprints/templates, how to make soap, board games I have in inventory with links on how to play, these are things I think of having on my website
